The Announcement

Key art: Tirion Fordring faces the Lich King

During the World of Warcraft “What’s Next” panel at BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard revealed more than Eclipse, the final major content update for Midnight, and the new Talebound game mode: after Mists of Pandaria and Legion, Wrath of the Lich King is the next expansion to get the Remix treatment.

“Prepare to return to Northrend and embrace the power of the Scourge for the Wrath of the Lich King Remix.”

On the roadmap shown during the panel, the Remix is slotted into content update 12.2.7 and planned for summer 2027. Blizzard has not announced a specific date yet.

The choice is hardly a coincidence: the upcoming expansion The Last Titan, which concludes the Worldsoul Saga, also returns to Northrend. The Remix will likely double as a warm-up for heading back to the frozen north.

Timerunning

What Is WoW Remix?

In WoW Remix, the Infinite Dragonflight sends newly created characters – so-called Timerunners – back into a past expansion. You level at a rapid pace, collect powerful gear and earn rewards that stay on your account for good.

  • Fresh Timerunners

Remix characters are newly created, restricted to the event’s region while it runs and marked with an hourglass icon.

  • Loot Everywhere

Accelerated leveling and gear from almost every source – quests, treasure chests and raid bosses alike.

  • Rewards That Last

Transmog, mounts, toys and achievements are yours to keep. Both previous Remixes used Bronze as their event currency.

  • Conversion at the End

When the event ends, Timerunners become regular characters: level, gold and reputation stay, event gear and currencies are removed.
